French toast is not something that people eat every day but is great for the weekend or whenever you have a bit of time to fix a special breakfast. This dish is pretty simple to make and consists of sliced bread soaked in a mixture of beaten eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar, and then is pan-fried with either butter or oil.
You want the French toast to be fluffy and tender on the inside and golden brown on the outside. Doesn’t that sound delicious!
I am using brioche bread here, but you can use challah, white, wheat, raisin, or another bread of your liking.
You can top this French toast with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh fruit for a beautiful and delicious presentation.
I like to serve this with fried or scrambled eggs, bacon, or sausage, depending on what is on hand.
I hope you try this recipe out and let me know how it turns out for you!
Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 9 bread slices
- Butter to fry the French toast

Instructions
In a large rectangle dish add eggs, vanilla, salt, powdered sugar, and cinnamon. Whisk until cinnamon is incorporated well. Add milk, then mix well.

Heat a large non-stick electric griddle or skillet over medium-heat. Add butter, once the butter is melted, dip bread slices into the batter, make sure to dredge them well on both sides, then place on hot buttered griddle or skillet.

Cook for a few minutes, until the bottom of the bread is golden brown. Flip the bread and cook until golden brown.

Remove to a serving plate. Serve warm with your favorite syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
