Strawberry Coffee Cake

It’s been wonderful to pick a handful of strawberries every morning from my garden this year. I have been battling birds as they devour the strawberries as soon as they ripen. A solution suggested by friends and from online was to put up a net over the strawberry plants or paint rocks to look like strawberries. We also placed a fake owl, but the birds just use it to stand on.

Banana Bread with Cream Cheese Frosting

We like bananas at our house but the thing is they get soft and mushy too fast, and I’m often left with a lot of over-ripe bananas. I could freeze them but usually I don’t have enough freezer space. I recently had too many ripe bananas and also too much cream cheese in my refrigerator. I therefore thought — why not make banana bread with a cream cheese frosting?

Vanilla Yogurt Coffee Cake

Ah…cinnamon and sugar. Such a delightful combination. I didn’t grow up with it, but after years spent in the United States I now love it. A sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on many types of food can make them just delicious. One of my favorite things is to get an elephant ear or funnel cake made with cinnamon sugar at a local event like the county fair. When that’s not possible I make myself a coffee cake.
