I have been really enjoying creating my favorite Chinese take-out dishes at home. They are pretty easy to make and are fresh tasting. You can have a wonderful meal on the table in 30 minutes or less. Today I show you my favorite way to make kung pao chicken at home. Kung pao chicken originated in the Sichuan Province of China but is now popular all over the world.

Stir Fried Pepper Steak

If you go to the food court of any big shopping mall you will almost always find a Chinese restaurant of some sort. A long time ago when I worked in a mall, I would often eat lunch at that mall’s Chinese restaurant with my co-worker. My favorite thing to order was Chinese Pepper Steak. Unlike many restaurants this place cooked it fresh right in front of you as you stood in line. It was always worth the wait for this fantastic dish. Today I will try to replicate that.

Mapo Tofu (Tofu with Pork)

A dear friend brought me a jar of Trader Joe’s Chili Onion Crunch seasoning a couple months ago. This interesting concoction is great to drizzle over rice, egg, and vegetable dishes. It has a mild but delicious combination of spices. I thought this would add a really nice flavor to a Chinese dish I like called Mapo Tofu. To make this dish I also needed to pick up some more interesting ingredients at an Asian grocery store, so headed to my local favorite, which is called HK Asian Market. I love strolling through every aisle and picking out things that speak to me!
