Dumpling soup

I remember, about a decade ago, I was into dieting. I ordered all sorts of health magazines, hoping to learn what and what not to eat.

I recall reading about how broth soups help lose weight. I used to buy canned broths and experiment by adding different types of vegetables, protein, herbs, and fish to it.

Out of all the combinations I tried, I found this soup to be one of my favorites. I thought it would be nice to share it with you all since it is simple, yet so delicious.


  • 8 cups hot water
  • 3 tbs Orrington Farms chicken flavored broth base
  • 2 tbs 1/2 inch cut onion and garlic chives
  • 1 tbs sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper ground
  • 1 bag Trader Joe’s chicken and vegetable potstickers
  • 1 cup carrot coins (1 large, thin slice)
  • I spring onion, finely sliced


Mix hot water and broth base in a saucepan. Make sure it’s thoroughly combined.

Add onion, chives, carrots, salt, and pepper. Bring mixture to a gentle boil.

Add potstickers, simmer for 7 to 10 minutes until potstickers float on surface and plump.

Taste to see if more salt and pepper is needed. Turn off the heat. Stir in sesame oil.

Serves 6
